Who are The Earth Prize Mentors?
The Earth Prize Mentors are university students who are passionate about sustainability, entrepreneurship and looking for an opportunity to share their knowledge.

What is the role of the Mentors?
The Mentors will help guide and support The Earth Prize Participants by answering teams’ questions related to their environmental sustainability projects and ideas.

Can I apply if I am not enrolled in a university?
No, all Mentors are required to be part of a higher education institution.

Will I receive a participation certificate?
Mentors who have successfully completed the program will receive a special certificate at the end of the competition. All participating Mentors will also be considered for The Earth Prize “Mentor of the Year” award.

What is The Earth Prize Mentor of the Year award?
The Earth Prize will recognize three mentors with The Earth Prize Mentor of the Year award. The three best mentors, as voted by the competition’s Participants, will receive a $2,500 prize each.

What is The Earth Prize Alumni?
The Earth Prize Alumni is a membership organization offering a platform for networking and inspiration amongst its community of passionate and talented youth. The Earth Prize Alumni will strengthen ties among its members offering them support through access to educational content, mentorship, social events, and professional opportunities. When will I be able to access the Alumni network?
Selected Mentors will be invited to join the Alumni platform once The Earth Prize competition has finished.

What are the eligibility criteria to apply to become a Mentor?
Candidates are required to be enrolled in a higher education institution throughout the competition, and have demonstrated interest and/or experience in the fields of environmental sustainability or entrepreneurship.

Can I apply if I am not enrolled in a university?
No, all Mentors are required to be part of a higher education institution.

What will I need to submit in my application?
Candidates will be asked to provide their basic personal information as well as a motivation letter and a CV.

How will the Mentors be selected?
The Mentors will be selected based on their experience and knowledge of environmental science, entrepreneurship and sustainability. Their interest in sharing their knowledge and teaching or tutoring experience will also be taken into account. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a short interview.

When will I find out if I have been accepted or not?
During the application period, all applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and applicants will be notified within two to three weeks.

Can I apply more than once?
Yes, applicants are welcome to reapply to become a Mentor in future editions of The Earth Prize.

What does mentoring in The Earth Prize involve exactly?
The Mentors will help guide and support The Earth Prize Participants by answering their questions related to their environmental sustainability projects and ideas.

How will the mentoring take place?
All mentoring will take place virtually and anonymously through The Earth Prize online platform.

Will I be assigned to a participating team?
Mentors will not be assigned a specific team but will be able to see and answer questions from all Participants.

Can I meet the participating teams?
During the Submissions Phase, the mentoring will take place virtually and exclusively through The Earth Prize platform. Communications outside the platform are strictly prohibited and will result in the disqualification of the Mentor. During the Finalists Phase, selected Mentors will have a chance to meet and work with an assigned Finalist team.

What type of questions am I expected to answer?
The Participants can ask any questions related to their project, the submission requirements, or any of the topics covered in The Earth Prize learning materials.

What happens if I am not able to answer any questions?
Mentors are allowed and encouraged to use external resources for answering questions. However, if a Mentor feels that he or she is not able to help the Participants, they are allowed to withdraw from the program.

Will I receive training?
Mentors will not receive any training; however an introductory webinar will be held before the start of The Earth Prize competition.

Are there consequences for being inactive on the platform?
The Earth Prize reserves the right to remove any Mentor from competition and revoke their access to the Alumni platform at any time if the Mentor is not meeting the minimum established requirements.

Can I withdraw half-way through The Earth Prize competition?
Mentors are allowed to withdraw from the competition at any time. However, by doing so, Mentors will no longer have access to the learning platform. They will also no longer be considered for The Earth Prize “Mentor of the Year” award.

Will I receive a participation certificate?
Mentors who have successfully completed the program will receive a special certificate at the end of the competition. All participating Mentors will also be considered for The Earth Prize Mentor of the Year award.

How will the Mentor of The Year be selected?
Each team is required to vote for their favorite Mentor on The Earth Prize Submissions Portal.
